$40,000 worth of tithings

What is the world coming to!

I have this bad habit of occasionally going on socialist rants about the need for more care and concern for the poorest. On the oddest of occasions, I go crazy at churches that spend their money on things that really don’t matter when they could do a little more about providing services for the poorest in their own countries, or in other countries. So here’s today’s example:

Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki and his wife have recently been on a $40,000 cruise around the Caribbean on the Queen Mary 2, to celebrate their wedding anniversary. It was paid for by the church’s 22 senior pastors - who derive their income from members who give a percentage of theirs to the church.

Now I know Destiny Church has been labelled as a bit loony before but this just cuts the cake. On what level is church tithings being used to fund a cruise ever a good idea!! Grrrr, this world drives me up the wall!!!! If “Christians” don’t show love and help those that need it, then how can we expect anyone else to.

God doesn’t expect us all to give up all our material possessions, and that’s definitely not what I’m saying, but I do think there are much better ways to use $40,000 worth of tithings.
